I had examiner 772 and she was pleasant. She greeted me with a smile, asked how I was doing and didn’t seem cranky or mean like what a lot of people here are saying about the examiners. Overall the test was easy, basically a loop around the test site. My appointment was at 11 am, but I got there an hour early because of my driving schools protocol, and she was kind enough to test me, even though her break time was starting. I’d recommend to book an appointment around 10-11 because barely any cars were in the street. Maybe also book it on a Friday because maybe a lot of examiners are in a better mood since they’re almost done with work for the week lol. There is this weird intersection that splits and I got points off bc I was unsure if I needed to turn my right signal on or not, cus it seemed like it followed straight to the direction with a slight curve, and thought I’d only need to signal if turning left. Looking back I realize she was probably hinting to signal because of the emphasis of her instructions lol. My husband had a really bad experience taking the road test in this location on March 26, 2026. It was his first time but his instructor 218 (African American) was highly rude and disrespectful towards him! My husband knows very little English and I'm guessing his instructor took advantage of him and constantly yelled at him! My husband isn't deaf and if you speak to him using basic words he would understand you. Instructor 218 didn't even tell my husband to turn on the car, my husband had to ASK him. Then the instructor didn't say anything, he just shrugged his hand up like "yes". He YELLED at my husband to STOP the car multiple times like if my husband was deaf. The instructor failed him but I know it was on purpose because my husband is a great driver. He just moved here from DR 3 months ago, he's trying to get his nyc license. My husband doesn't even want to go back there, he thinks he will have the same instructor. We found a different location in the Bronx and I know he'll definitely pass the road test this time.

The two examiners were great with positive attitudes. You may be lucky if your testing at New Rochelle and those two guys are there. My experience when my kids are testing. I had a few bad attitude examiners. They think new drivers should be NASCAR experts. They just need to know the basics to pass then in time they will become experienced drivers. They should have good attitudes and give advice if the student do a wrong move. I know they switched them out and move them to other test sites. DMV should supply them with a dash cam that can record the front and the interior to keep everyone safe and honest. My advice DMV. Thank you for your service.

First time being in this area and taking a road test here and I was very pleased to have such a nice instructor! Examiner #882 was extremely calm and patient she did not make me feel uncomfortable or nervous. She told me she can see I understand the basics of driving and was so polite! This driving site is not difficult however it does have tight roads and one busy part you’ll have to make a left with oncoming traffic and no traffic light which was fine you just have to be observant.
